but seriously,
took advantage of the moment,
siezed the moment,
capitalized on the situation
“Pounced”
Moved quickly to take advantage of the situation
If you want to get fancy, there’s “carpe diem”, which is the Latin origin of “seize the moment” – for purposes of instant gratification.
