Large or small kitchens are a personal preference. It also depends on how your home is layed out…if it is a galley kitchen, or work kitchen, or eat-in. It depends on how many people are in the home, and how many enjoy cooking. Kitchen trends change with years…right now people like to have a larger kitchen, but what is larger? If you have a tiny kitchen now, then an average kitchen would be considered large to them..so you see what I mean? Personal preference.
Kitchens can be used for lots of things..cooking, baking, socializing. If you have children then it can be the homework centre.
I have had both eat-in kitchens and formal diningrooms. I prefer eat-in kitchens..as I believe the kitchen to be the heart of the home and I like to socialize there, close to the coffee pot. I bake and cook, so a place to sit and visit while I am busy works best for me. My children have always helped over the years with baking, so they would be at the kitchen table helping me.
I like both modern and antiques…my kitchen is brand new with granite countertops and stainless appliances but more traditional styled but new cupboards..the mix works well with my home furnishings which is also a mix of antique and new.
