Why Is Google Throwing My Site All Over The Place For My Phrase?

Hi Everyone!
I have been optimizing my site for a particular phrase for a couple of months now, but when I think I am getting somewhere, I suddenly drop way down in terms of ranks or just plain disappear for a couple of days. This is so frustrating!
The site recently reached 61 and sat there for a few days, then it dropped to 130! Is there any reason for this? Am I doing something wrong in terms of SEO?

Note: I have used Unique article wizard but it seemed as though this made my results worse, so I have just been sticking to plain old SEO. i.e forums, directories, article directories etc..
