Food processors and restaurants from the world over are working very hart to reduce or totally get rid of trans fats from the things that we eat everyday. Trans fats are unhealthy fats from hydrogenated oils that raise bad cholesterol while lowering the good stuff, which leads to the development of heart disease.
These artificial fats have been linked with not only obesity, but also type two diabetes, cancer, in addition to heart disease. Staying away from these fats is essential to staying healthy.
However, there is a naturally occurring trans fat called CLA or conjugated linoleic acid. This is found in grazing and plant eating animals such as deer, goats, sheep and cattle.
CLA has been demonstrated to decrease abdominal fat, jump start metabolism while improving muscle growth. It is also known to lower bad cholesterol along with triglycerides while boosting the immune system. It also reduces insulin resistance, among many other benefits.
Taking CLA for weight loss should be through the ingestion of meat and dairy from grass fed animals. But, they do come in supplement form, and you can get CLA in pill as well as powder form. Just do your homework and make sure they are authentic versions, and that they come from a company that is trusted.
CLA, like so many other things on the market today, has their share of imitation versions out there. Stay away from them, they won’t work and they can actually harm the body. Only buy supplements from trusted sources like health food stores.
CLA is not a miracle weight loss cure, and needs to be blended in with a healthy diet and exercise program in order to receive the best benefits.
Don’t forget that not all trans fats are bad, just the artificial ones. CLA is a good one to have and will help maintain overall health.
